IP Lookup

Domain to IP

Instantly resolve any domain name to its IP address, including all A and AAAA records.

What is a Domain to IP Lookup?

A Domain to IP lookup (also called DNS A record lookup) resolves a human-readable domain name into its underlying numeric IP address. This is the same process your browser performs automatically when you visit any website.

IPv4 vs IPv6

Domains can resolve to both IPv4 (e.g. 93.184.216.34) and IPv6 (e.g. 2606:2800:220:1:248:1893:25c8:1946) addresses. IPv4 uses 32-bit addresses while IPv6 uses 128-bit addresses to accommodate the growing number of internet-connected devices.

Multiple IP Addresses

Large websites often resolve to multiple IP addresses. DNS returns different IPs to distribute traffic across multiple servers for load balancing and redundancy. Google.com, for example, typically resolves to several IPs at once.

Why Would You Need to Look Up an IP Address?

  • Troubleshoot DNS propagation after changing hosting
  • Verify your domain is pointing to the correct server
  • Security research and IP reputation checking
  • Setting up firewall rules that require IP addresses
  • Checking if multiple domains share the same server
